Containerized Bulk Loading System | Increased Loading Capacity

A new bulk handling system will allow WTC Group to increase its per-minute grain loading capacity from approximately two tonnes to almost 13 at Terminal One. The new, custom built site will solidify the company as one of the most technologically advanced containerization facilities in Canada.

A little over two years in the making, the new state of the art system—which dumps grain and speciality crops directly from railcars into as many as four staged containers—was designed from the ground-up by the operations and leadership teams at WTC Group.

The project involved over 50 people—the vast majority of whom work in-house at the company—and drew on years of experience from several smaller iterations to realize the current and final design.

With additional rail and terminal expansions slated for mid-to-late 2020, WTC Group will eventually be able to unload over 50 railcars per day, bringing their total daily container loading capacity to over 250.

WTC Group is ecstatic that this project is in the latter stages, and is eagerly looking forward to 2020. It says it is awaiting some of the last pieces in order to finalize testing, with operations set to begin in Q2 of this year.
